If you ask me, the hardest part of going natural is transitioning from straight obedient hair to short, coily, unpredictable, natural hair. You know, the TWA stage were you search for hair inspiration but can't get your hair to do the styles you see on natural hair blogs; no curls, no definition, no shine, no braiding e.t.c...
Well, going natural is not as easy as it might sound but when you get to this stage I'd advice that you take the easy way out and learn to wear your hair in the simplest of styles while learning to embrace your texture....
That way you give yourself and hair time to grow naturally and beautifully:)
thanks for that... starting to transition and patience is something I struggle with .. sighhhhss..☺

ReplyDeleteBlessings!
that's my hair! may be it's the product I use, but I can never achieve any "out" style. My hair goes back to its natural texture immediately after separating the twists or braids. And it shrinks within minutes. The hair doesn't like being "disturbed"
ReplyDeleteLol...thats natural hair for you. I'm happy that you love and accept your hair type. Many of us still struggle with our fro's refusal to conform...

ReplyDeleteI did a very straight and massive big chop. From 16" of permed hair to half an inch. I have successful beaten my tough 4a + 4b hair to total submission with correct deep conditioning. You know what; I have loved it every single day. And without blowing my trumpet, I know I look so much prettier. I haven't had any derogatory comments about my hair so far (at least not to my face), because I carry my little afro with so much confidence. Beauty comes from within, if you aren't beautiful inside, you can't be beautiful outside (even with the 100k 'Brazillian hair').
ReplyDeleteTo me, confidence is everything. Confidence. Confidence. Confidence.
Take care of your hair, moisturise, wash, deep condition, stay away from too many chemicals etc and you are good to go. I love my short crop!!! Make witch bite persin make e come talk bad belle somtin for my face na. I dey wait am. Heheheheheheheheee
