Inspiration: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

"The single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story."

  1. Thank you so much for posting this on your blog. This was a fantastic talk from a wonderfully inspirational author/speaker. I was moved by this; "the single story robs people of their dignity". No truer words were ever spoken. As a black woman in America, I see the single story narrative permeate the airwaves daily, almost with the permission of those most acutely affected. It keeps the playing field as unlevel as possible. Again, thank you for posting this.

  2. I have this video on my iPod. It is such a powerful one. Chimamanda is quite the speaker/writer.

  3. You are welcome JazzWife and I couldn't agree more when you say "I see the single story narrative permeate the airwaves daily, almost with the permission of those most acutely affected...".
NN I hope to meet her someday. She reminds me so much of Chinua Achebe and Wole Soyinka the most powerful authors speakers of our time.
